Bradbury House provides many facilities within the home. We think that we cater for most peoples needs, whether it is reading in one of our quiet lounges, having their hair done, maybe a massage or learning something new on the computer. Amongst the many facilities are:
There is a large lounge on the ground floor which is used for various communal purposes including showing films, watching television, listening on Sunday to the local service at St Mary’s, and much more. However, for those who prefer a quieter time, the small sitting rooms on each of the four wings are available or they may stay in the comfort of their own rooms. We also have an purpose built area where we have activities throughout the day.
There is a communal dining room on the ground floor where the main meals are served. However residents are able to cook in our purpose built kitchen in the Activity centre which has a dining area and comfortable chairs. Residents also have use of the kitchens on each wing to make drinks, toast or use the fridge to store their own food items.
Within the Activity Centre is the Therapy room which is fitted out with the equipment for hairdressing and to allow visiting qualified practitioners to provide services such as chiropody, manicuring, simple physiotherapy and aromatherapy.
To meet the needs of those who use computers, or want to learn how to use a computer, we have a modern computer system in place with a large screen and large visibility keyboard. We can provide support in learning to use the computer and programs like Email, Skype and Twitter to keep in touch with family who may live far away.
Our lovely garden room, which is bright and has views over the garden and surrounding countryside, brings the outdoors inside and is a sanctuary for quiet moments, to reflect, read or just to watch the wild life visiting our garden, patio and pond areas.
We have beautiful landscaped gardens with extensive pathways to allow all to explore its beauty. There are plenty of seats to just sit in the sun and some beautiful views across the countryside in which our home is set. Our gardener is very proud of the gardens and welcomes any help if residents want to get their hands dirty. The house Labrador, Ben, and the Guinea pigs are also a source of entertainment for residents
Our minibus provides regular opportunities to explore the local countryside, with the Thames valley to the South and the Chiltern Hills to the North the variety is endless. And of course visits to the theatre and the many local, and not so local, places of interest are undertaken and enjoyed.
