The beautiful, historic and rather famous (or should that be infamous!) Cliveden is just fifteen minutes away from Bradbury House. It has long been a favourite destination for days out with its stunning gardens and architecture.

However, trips out are a little tricky at the moment, due to Coronavirus. Luckily, our newsletter editor, Julia Molden, came up with the lovely idea of taking our residents on a virtual trip around Cliveden in our Autumn newsletter. Including pictures of various parts of the grounds, including the Parterre, views of the house and riverside shots, we hope this helped people to feel a little like they were there. Some fascinating facts that Julia unearthed about Cliveden:
- The estate comprises of a whopping 376 acres
- Cliveden actually means ‘valley among cliffs’
- Waldorf Astor gave the estate to the National Trust in 1942
- The house built in 1666 by George Villiers, the 2nd Duke of Buckingham, as a hunting lodge
- Cliveden is where ‘Rule Britannia’ was first performed in 1740
- It’s one of the National Trust’s most popular attractions with nearly half a million visitors a year
